Basketball Game Preview: Capistrano Valley Christian Eagles vs. The Webb Schools Gauls

Capistrano Valley Christian is 4-0 against The Webb Schools since January of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Capistrano Valley Christian Eagles will take on The Webb Schools Gauls at 6:30 p.m. One thing working in Capistrano Valley Christian's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six matches.

On Tuesday, Capistrano Valley Christian was able to grind out a solid victory over Pacifica Christian/Santa Monica, taking the game 74-62.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Capistrano Valley Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Matthew Ahern, who went 7 of 11 on his way to 25 points. Ahern's evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Ahern, who went 7 for 11 on his way to 23 points.

Meanwhile, The Webb Schools played a tough contest on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against Tarbut V' Torah, falling 49-28. The Gauls have struggled against the Lions recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Capistrano Valley Christian's win was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-4. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.9 points per game. As for The Webb Schools, they now have a losing record at 4-5.

Everything went Capistrano Valley Christian's way against The Webb Schools in their previous meeting back in February of 2018, as Capistrano Valley Christian made off with an 88-63 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Capistrano Valley Christian since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
