Volleyball Game Preview: Encinal Jets vs. Berkeley Yellowjackets

Encinal hasn't had much luck against Berkeley recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Jets are taking a road trip to square off against the Yellowjackets at 6:45 p.m.

Encinal had taken Alameda down for three straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Tuesday. The Jets fell just short of the Hornets by a score of 3-2.

Encinal wouldn't go down easily and took Alameda into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking two-point loss. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-14, 25-14, 19-25, 18-25, 15-13.

Meanwhile, Berkeley hadn't done well against Castro Valley recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Yellowjackets came out on top against the Trojans by a score of 3-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Yellowjackets.

Berkeley had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 14-25, 26-24, 25-21, 26-24.

Encinal now has a losing record of 9-10. As for Berkeley, their record is now 8-6.

Encinal came up short against Berkeley when the teams last played back in September, falling 3-1. Can the Jets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
