Basketball Recap: Johansen's Loss Ends Six-Game Winning Streak on the Road

It was a good run, but Johansen unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 64-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Central Valley Hawks. The Vikings were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Hawks apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

When it comes to explaining why Johansen lost, don't look at Wilbert Gaxiola. Despite the final result, he posted 18 points. The contest was Gaxiola's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Kenneth Walker was another key player, putting up ten points.

Central Valley's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Andre Flores, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 13 rebounds. What's more, Flores also racked up five assists, the most he's had since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Silas Rodriguez, who scored ten points along with five boards and three steals.

Johansen's loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-6. As for Central Valley, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-10.

Johansen has already played their next match, an 83-45 victory against Livingston on the 22nd. Central Valley has also already played their next game (against Lathrop), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
