Basketball Recap: Bertie Piles Up the Points Against North East Carolina Prep

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bertie). They blew past the North East Carolina Prep Husky 55-15 on Tuesday. The team's explosion on offense also rewarded the Falcons with their most commanding win of the season.

Bertie's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Zynaeja Leary, who went 7 for 12 en route to 15 points along with eight boards and six steals. Leary is becoming a predictor of Bertie's success: when she posts at least three steals the team is 2-1 (and 1-7 when she doesn't). Armani Bridgett was another key player, putting up eight points in addition to nine rebounds and five assists.

Bertie was working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February of 2024.

The win made it two in a row for Bertie and bumps their season record up to 3-8. As for North East Carolina Prep, they dropped their record down to 0-13 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road.

Bertie will venture away from home to face off against Washington County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Bertie has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. North East Carolina Prep has already played their next game (against Northeast Academy For Aerospace and Advanced Tech), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
