Softball Recap: Bronson Eagles vs. Hawthorne Hornets

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Bronson and Hawthorne meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Thursday. The Bronson Eagles never let the Hawthorne Hornets get on the board and left with a 16-0 win. That looming 16-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Eagles yet this season.

Maddie Dean was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Bronson got a massive performance out of Jordyn Paige, who scored two runs and stole Five bases. while going 1-for-1. The dominant performance gave Paige a new career-high in stolen bases. The team also got some help courtesy of Makenna Dean, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Bronson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .613. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hawthorne only posted an OBP of .400.

The victory got Bronson back to even at 6-6. As for Hawthorne, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bronson will welcome Dixie County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Bronson is facing Dixie County at the right time seeing as Dixie County is stuck on a seven-game losing streak. Hawthorne will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Bradford at 7:00 p.m. on March 27th.
