Softball Recap: Germantown Victorious

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Germantown ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Clinton Arrows, sneaking past 8-7. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Mackenzie Donnell spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on nine hits.

At the plate, Germantown got a big performance out of Lily Bittle, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Julia Glasgow, who scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-4.

Germantown's win bumped their record up to 10-5. As for Clinton, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Germantown will host Tupelo at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Clinton, they will welcome Starkville at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Clinton is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.
