Softball Recap: Northgate Takes Down Berean Christian in a Playoff Battle

Northgate extended their postseason success on Friday against Berean Christian. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Eagles. The result was nothing new for the Broncos, who have now won nine matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Ashley Herman made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Addison Baxter, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Sophie Hanko, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Northgate has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-11 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.4 runs over those games. As for Berean Christian, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 18-4 record.

As of now, neither Northgate nor the Eagles have any future games scheduled.
