Soccer Game Preview: Avon Park vs. DeSoto County

The Avon Park Red Devils will face off against the DeSoto County Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Considering both teams were shutout in their prior games, the pair is probably coming into this one with something to prove.

Avon Park is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Sebring just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Friday. They lost 4-0 to the Blue Streaks. Having soared to a lofty six goals in the game before, the Red Devils' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Meanwhile, DeSoto County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They came up short against Imagine School at North Port, falling 8-0. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 547th, while the Sharks are ranked 253rd).

DeSoto County's defeat dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Avon Park, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-4-1.

Avon Park took their win against DeSoto County in their previous matchup back in November of 2024 by a conclusive 6-0. Does Avon Park have another victory up their sleeve, or will DeSoto County turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
