Basketball Recap: Festus Gets the Win

After losing to Hillsboro the last time they met, Festus decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. In a tight matchup that could have gone either way, the Festus Tigers made off with a 57-56 win over the Hillsboro Hawks. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Tigers' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 85th, while the Hawks are ranked 28th).

Festus pushed their record up to 11-3 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of two points across that stretch. As for Hillsboro, their loss ended a 15-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 10-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Festus has already played their next contest (against Oakville), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Hillsboro has also has no score uploaded for their next game, this one against DeSoto.
