Basketball Recap: Bremond Takes a Loss

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 71-33, which was the final score in the Bremond Tigers's tilt against the Gordon Longhorns on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 900th, while the Longhorns are ranked 345th).

Bremond's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Braylon Estrada, who posted nine points and three steals, and Jeramiah Morgan, who put up four points and six boards.

Even though they lost, Bremond smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds every time they've taken the court this season.

Bremond's defeat dropped their record down to 10-8. As for Gordon, the victory (which was their 16th in a row) raised their record to 20-3.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Bremond will face off against Evadale at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Evadale will roll in looking for their 16th straight win, something Bremond surely won't give up without a fight. As for Gordon, they will head out to challenge Hermleigh at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Gordon's defense has only allowed 29.7 points per game this season, so Hermleigh's offense will have their work cut out for them.
