Recap: Bayfield Wolverines vs. Centauri Falcons
The Bayfield Wolverines struggled with assists on Tuesday (the Centauri Falcons had seven more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Bayfield was the victim of a tough 65-43 loss at the hands of Centauri. While losing is never fun, Bayfield can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 254th, while Centauri is ranked 68th).
Despite the loss, Bayfield still got an impressive performance from Lincoln Williams, who scored 12 points along with six steals and five rebounds. Williams is crushing the steal category: he's posted at least three every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Cody Ross, who scored six points.
It was another big night for Chaz Holman, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and four steals for Centauri. Holman is crushing the steal category: he's posted at least three every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Troy Sowards, who scored 16 points.
Bayfield's loss dropped their record down to 3-14. As for Centauri, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season.
Bayfield will head out on the road to face off against Pagosa Springs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Pagosa Springs will roll in looking for their 18th straight victory, something Bayfield surely won't give up without a fight. As for Centauri, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Alamosa at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Centauri is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 52.5 points per game this season.
