Softball Recap: Oak Grove Takes Down Fairfield in a Playoff Battle

With a playoff win on the line, Oak Grove rose to the challenge on Monday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Fairfield an 18-0 shutout. Oak Grove might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 matches by seven runs or more this season.

Gracie 'Sassy' Renz was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since April 1st. Another player making a difference was Aubrey Guthrie, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base.

Oak Grove was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .550. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Oak Grove's win bumped their record up to 23-18. As for Fairfield, their loss was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-22.

Looking ahead, Oak Grove will take on Pleasant Grove at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Fairfield does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
