Basketball Recap: Plainfield East falls despite strong effort from Lexi Sepulveda

Basketball Recap: Plainfield East Bengals vs. St. Charles North North Stars

After flying high against the Plainfield Central Wildcats last Thursday, the Plainfield East Bengals came back down to earth. Plainfield East took a 57-40 bruising from the North Stars on Monday. While losing is never fun, Plainfield East can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 317th, while the North Stars are ranked 18th).

Despite the loss, Plainfield East still got an impressive performance from Lexi Sepulveda, who almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine rebounds. Sepulveda also posted two+ blocks for the first time this season. Emma Rodgers was another key contributor, scoring eight points.

Plainfield East has traveled a rocky road recently having lost 13 of their last 16 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-16 record this season. As for St. Charles North, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 22-3.

Plainfield East won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Steelmen at 6:30 p.m. on January 30th. Joliet Central has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 29. As for St. Charles North, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome the Panthers at 7:15 p.m. on February 1st. Glenbard North has now lost ten straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 28.
