Softball Game Preview: Blue Mountain Eagles vs. Tamaqua Raiders

The Blue Mountain Eagles will challenge the Tamaqua Raiders at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Blue Mountain heads in on the heels of a playoff contest on Thursday. They took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Pine Grove. The Eagles' defeat signaled the end of their ten-game winning streak.

Blue Mountain saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hailey Place, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Meanwhile, Tamaqua and Pocono Mountain East finished up on equal footing with a 2-2 tie on Monday.

Tamaqua's tie makes their record 11-11-1 this season. As for Blue Mountain, their loss dropped their record down to 20-2.

Tamaqua's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Blue Mountain hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .388. It's a different story for Tamaqua, though, as they've only averaged .257. Will they be able to contain Blue Mountain's hitters?

Blue Mountain got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in April against Tamaqua by a conclusive 13-3 score. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Raiders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
