Soccer Game Preview: Bishop Verot vs. Cardinal Gibbons

Bishop Verot has won four straight games at home, while Cardinal Gibbons has won four straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Friday. The Bishop Verot Vikings will be home for the holidays to greet the Cardinal Gibbons Chiefs at 2:00 p.m. Bishop Verot is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 6.2 goals per game this season.

Last Thursday, Bishop Verot earned a 3-1 victory over Aubrey Rogers. Given the Vikings' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 28th, while the Patriots are ranked 118th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Jillian Haataja and Gianna Fabrizi scored all three of Bishop Verot's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 14 goals.

Meanwhile, Cardinal Gibbons' game on Thursday was all tied up 1-1 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They blew past Canterbury 4-1. The result was nothing new for the Chiefs, who have now won four games by three goals or more so far this season.

Bishop Verot's win bumped their record up to 9-0. As for Cardinal Gibbons, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
