Baseball Recap: Taft Comes Up Short

Taft and Orange Grove squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Taft had to settle for second. They came up short against the Bulldogs, falling 14-1. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, with their most recent defeat being a 15-0 loss on Friday.

Hunter Montemayor was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. He is becoming a predictor of Taft's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 2-1 (and 11-13-1 when he doesn't).

Taft has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-14-1 record this season. As for Orange Grove, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 16-10-1.

As of now, neither Taft nor the Bulldogs have any future games scheduled.
