Union Catholic gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Union Farmers with a sharp 9-2 victory. The Vikings haven't had any issues with the Farmers recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.
Nick Anderson made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Anderson was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
In other pitching news, Ryan Conlon tossed a big game, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits.
