Baseball Recap: Holy Ghost Prep Has No Trouble Against Faith Christian Academy

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Malvern Prep, Holy Ghost Prep was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Faith Christian Academy Lions with a sharp 8-1 win.

Holy Ghost Prep got a great performance from Matt Riendeau as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over six innings pitched. Riendeau also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because the Firebirds are 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 1-3 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jake Keaser, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one double. He also brought in an RBI, marking his first of the season. Bam McNabb was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases.

Holy Ghost Prep has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 3-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. Having lost for the first time this season, Faith Christian Academy fell to 5-1.

Looking ahead, Holy Ghost Prep will welcome St. Augustine Prep at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Hermits will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something the Firebirds surely won't give up without a fight. As for Faith Christian Academy, they will head out on the road to take on Collegium Charter at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Cougar have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.14 runs per game on average), something the Lions will no doubt try to take advantage of.
