Softball Recap: Hedgesville Victorious

After losing to Berkeley Springs the last time they met, Hedgesville decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Hedgesville walked away with a 14-9 win over Berkeley Springs on Thursday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Eagles.

Kayla Burns was a standout: she scored two runs while going 3-for-4. Those runs marked the first that she scored this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Caylie Shade, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Burns wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Hedgesville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in March of 2024.

Hedgesville's record now sits at 3-1. As for Berkeley Springs, they dropped their record down to 2-4 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Looking ahead, Hedgesville will venture away from home to take on Martinsburg at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hedgesville's pitchers better be ready for this one: Martinsburg has averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season. As for Berkeley Springs, they will host Fairmont Senior at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Fairmont Senior has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.8 runs per game on average), something Berkeley Springs will no doubt try to take advantage of.
