Lucy Beckham proved they can win big on Friday (they won by 14) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 win over the Hickory Hawks. The victory was nothing new for the Bengals as they're now sitting on four straight.

Hunter Doyle tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Lucy Beckham is 4-2 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 5-6 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Riles Morris was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Hank Aeppli, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Lucy Beckham now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Hickory, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-3.

Lucy Beckham wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 9-5 defeat against James Madison on the 15th. As for Hickory, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 5-1 loss against Chase on the 16th.
