East Surry won the last time they faced Surry Central and things went their way on Friday too. The Cardinals claimed a resounding 57-7 win over the Golden Eagles. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 57-7.

Nathan Kiger had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 96 yards and three scores on only six carries. Those three rushing touchdowns gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was JB Davis, who threw for 117 yards and a pair of touchdowns on perfect 6-for-6 passing.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something East Surry proved: they limited Surry Central to a paltry -0.5 yards per carry. The team can thank Porter Gibson for the heroic effort on defense: he. East Surry's run defense has been on the up-and-up: they allowed 4.17 yards per carry earlier this season, but they've only allowed 8.1 on average over their last five games.

The victory made it two in a row for East Surry and bumps their season record up to 2-4. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 27 points in those games. As for Surry Central, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.
