Softball Recap: Kennett Blue Demons vs. Downingtown West Whippets
Kennett had lost five straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Wednesday they dropped down to 0-5 to make it six. They came up short against the Downingtown West Whippets, falling 17-2. That's two games in a row now that the Blue Demons have lost by exactly 15 runs.
As for Downingtown West, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 8-1. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by seven runs or more this season.
For Downingtown West's part, Mackenzie Noles made a big impact no matter where she played. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Noles has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Casey McWilliams, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and three runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ava Kaczmarski, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
