Football Game Preview: Lockhart Lions vs. A&M Consolidated Tigers

The Lockhart Lions will face off against the A&M Consolidated Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing isn't great for Lockhart: they have been struggling with seven straight losses at home dating back to last season, while A&M Consolidated has snatched up three consecutive wins on the road.

On Thursday, Lockhart had to suffer through a 56-22 loss at the hands of Anderson. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 761st, while the Trojans are ranked 47th).

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Kaidyn Brite, who rushed for 65 yards and one score on only six carries. The bulk of those rushing yards came from one huge play: a run that gained an incredible 53 yards. Lockhart also got help from Demonte Anthony, who showed off his sure hands for 80 receiving yards.

Meanwhile, A&M Consolidated humbled Hays with a 45-13 victory. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by 27 points or more this season.

Lockhart better focus on containing Amarian Moore and Camron Roston as the pair were huge in A&M Consolidated's win. Moore threw for 200 yards and three touchdowns, while Roston rushed for 89 yards and a pair of TDs. Those three passing touchdowns gave Moore a new career-high.

A&M Consolidated was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 261 rushing yards. They are a perfect 6-0 when they've run for more than 200 yards.

A&M Consolidated's win bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Lockhart, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-8.

Lockhart took a serious blow against A&M Consolidated in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, falling 63-0. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Tigers' Jayden Mullenberg, who threw for 128 yards and three touchdowns on only 12 passes. Now that the Lions know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
