The Triad Cardinals will venture away from home to take on the Ridgemont Golden Gophers at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Triad is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak.

It was a proper cat-fight when Triad took on West Liberty-Salem on Tuesday. The Cardinals fell 11-7 to the Tigers. That's two games in a row now that the Cardinals have lost by exactly four runs.

Ridgemont never got on the board in their matchup last Saturday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Mt. Gilead last Tuesday. They blew past the Indians 17-7. Considering the Golden Gophers' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Ruth Eckstein and Riley Hites did most of the damage at the plate: Eckstein scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances, while Hites scored three runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-5. Those three stolen bases gave Eckstein a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Albrey Bailey, who scored two runs while going 1-for-4.

Ridgemont's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Triad, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5.
