Ledyard waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They put the hurt on the Putnam Clippers with a sharp 23-4 win. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Colonels also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2018.

Kyra Manning made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Mackenzie Caise was a standout: she got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April. Pixie Hill was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, two stolen bases, and one RBI.

Ledyard always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .673. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Putnam only posted an OBP of .400.

Ledyard pushed their record up to 18-3 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.7 runs over those games. As for Putnam, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-13.

Looking ahead, Ledyard will square off against Stonington at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Putnam does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
