Football Game Preview: Magazine Rattlers vs. Hector Wildcats

The Magazine Rattlers will venture away from home to face off against the Hector Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Magazine lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Mountain Pine, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Friday's matchup. The Rattlers were the clear victors by a 33-12 margin over the Red Devils on Friday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Rattlers needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

Meanwhile, Hector made easy work of Conway Christian on Friday and carried off a 32-12 win. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Wildcats just coasted through the last quarter.

Magazine better keep an eye on Lucas Baker. He was instrumental in Hector's win, rushing for 252 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 8.4 yards per carry. Drew Newport was another key player, rushing for 41 yards and one touchdown.

The victory made it two in a row for Hector and bumps their season record up to 8-1. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 39.5 points over those games. As for Magazine, their victory bumped their record up to 5-3.

Magazine couldn't quite get it done against Hector in their previous meeting back in November of 2024 as they fell 12-0. Can the Rattlers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
