Baseball Recap: Community Christian Academy Picks Up Sixth Consecutive Victory

Community Christian Academy took a ten-run defeat the last time they faced off against Piedmont Community Charter, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Community Christian Academy Warriors sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 win over the Piedmont Community Charter Patriots on Thursday. This was payback for the Warriors, who suffered an 11-1 loss the last time these two teams met.

Cole Richardson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Richardson was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-4.

Richardson wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Enoch Taylor, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Jayce Martin was another, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

The victory was the sixth in a row (dating back to last season) for Community Christian Academy, bringing their record for this year to 2-0. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Piedmont Community Charter, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Community Christian Academy will take on Alexander Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Piedmont Community Charter, they will challenge Highland Tech at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Piedmont Community Charter is facing Highland Tech at the right time seeing as Highland Tech is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
