Softball Game Preview: Hueneme Vikings vs. Santa Barbara Dons

The Hueneme Vikings will face off against the Santa Barbara Dons at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Hueneme's hitters haven't had much luck over their past five matchups, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Hueneme blew Channel Islands out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Thursday Channel Islands got their revenge. The Vikings fell just short of the Raiders by a score of 4-2.

Jaucelynn Ayala put in work while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one walk in 15 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles and one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Santa Barbara came up short against San Marcos on Wednesday, falling 15-2. The Dons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Santa Barbara's loss dropped their record down to 5-18. As for Hueneme, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-13.

Everything went Hueneme's way against Santa Barbara in their previous meeting back in February, as Hueneme made off with a 7-0 victory. Will the Vikings repeat their success, or do the Dons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
