League recap: Cherokee tops Wesleyan Christian to extend winning streak

C District 3 (8 Man) recap Sept. 26, 2012

Cherokee extended the longest winning streak in C District 3 (8 Man) this week by beating Wesleyan Christian, 52-3. The victory was the fourth in a row for the Chiefs.

Deer Creek was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fifth to third in the league. Earlier in the week, the Eagles triumphed over Bluejacket 62-46.

The Chieftains' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. TK Francis threw for 334 and five touchdowns and Charlie Reeves had 142 yards receiving. On the ground Dylan Anderson chipped in 128 yards. Anderson helped Bluejacket's passing attack out by catching three balls for 71 yards.

Bluejacket's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Chieftains feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Francis has thrown for 835 yards and 10 touchdowns this season, while Reeves has 12 catches for 310 yards. Anderson leads the league in rushing with 452 yards.

A big matchup in C District 3 (8 Man) this week will be when Bluejacket takes on Wesleyan Christian. Ronnie Simmons's team is in fifth place, while Rodney Clark's team is in second place.
