Volleyball Recap: Steele Takes a Loss

Steele lost against Springfield back in March, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Comets came up short against the Blue Devils, falling 3-0.

While Steele ultimately came up short, they really made Springfield work, particularly in the third set. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 25-14, 27-25.

Loss or not, Steele got some senior leadership from Jake Penano and Prince Tran. Penano had 19 digs and one assist, while Tran had 15 digs. Tran has been hot, having posted ten or more digs the last five times he's played. Filippo Rossini also deserves some recognition as he had his first kill of the season.

Steele's defeat dropped their record down to 9-9. As for Springfield, their victory was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-1.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Steele is set to challenge their familiar foe Nordonia at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Springfield will take on rival Anthony Wayne at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
