Baseball Game Preview: Foothill Knights vs. El Modena Vanguards

The Foothill Knights will challenge the El Modena Vanguards at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Foothill 2.4, El Modena 3.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Foothill's last matchup with Cypress could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's match on Friday. The Knights lost 9-1 to the Centurions. The Knights' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

Foothill saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sean Green, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Meanwhile, after only one run in their last contest, El Modena made sure to put some runs up on the board against Orange on Saturday. The Vanguards were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Panthers. The Vanguards haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Eric Ordaz looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

On the hitting side, Nathan Valdez was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of London Aldridge, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

El Modena kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Orange only managed two hits.

Foothill's loss dropped their record down to 15-8. As for El Modena, their victory bumped their record up to 8-14.

Foothill came out on top in a nail-biter against El Modena when the teams last played back in March, sneaking past 2-0. Do the Knights have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Vanguards turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
