Softball Recap: West Texas Has No Trouble Against Booker

While West Texas didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-13-1), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They blew past the Booker Kiowas 20-1 on Friday. The Comanches might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by ten runs or more this season.

Mackenzie Elliott was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Mikayla Casey was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

West Texas always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .786. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March of 2024.

The win made it two in a row for West Texas and bumps their season record up to 6-3. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games. As for Booker, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Coincidentally, West Texas and Booker will both be playing Gruver the next time they take the field. West Texas will host Gruver at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, while Booker will host them at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
