Basketball Recap: Ocean View Falls Despite Big Games from Zeke Case and Logan Covarrubias

Ocean View saw some tournament action on Saturday. They took a hard 52-37 fall against the Moreno Valley Vikings. While losing is never fun, the Seahawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1038th, while the Vikings are ranked 510th).

Logan Covarrubias and Zeke Case certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Covarrubias went 5 of 12 en route to 18 points and five rebounds, while Case posted six points and 11 rebounds. Those 18 points gave Covarrubias a new career-high.

Jamall Thompson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Moreno Valley, putting up 18 points. Another player making a difference was Zyetice Hayes, who had ten points.

This is the second loss in a row for Ocean View and nudges their season record down to 4-13. As for Moreno Valley, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-4.

Ocean View didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 70-57 loss against Palo Verde Valley on the 30th. As for Moreno Valley, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 36-27 win against Stevenson on the 30th.
