Softball Recap: Knox Central Wins Going Away Against Lynn Camp

Knox Central lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Lynn Camp, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Saturday's match. The Panthers put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 18-3 win on Saturday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last six times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Blakely Castle made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI and one double. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Hannah Melton was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayme Swafford, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Knox Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .719. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Knox Central is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-7-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Lynn Camp, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-14.
