Baseball Game Preview: Concord Spiders vs. Northwest Cabarrus Trojans

Concord is 2-8 against Northwest Cabarrus since May of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Concord Spiders will venture away from home to take on the Northwest Cabarrus Trojans at 7:00 p.m. Concord has given up an average of 12.7 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Concord is headed into Friday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their sixth straight game on Tuesday. They came up short against Carson, falling 11-1.

Concord saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mason Porter, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Palmer Wyke also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Meanwhile, Northwest Cabarrus was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-2 heartbreaker at the hands of Robinson. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Trojans have suffered since February 29, 2024.

Northwest Cabarrus' defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Concord, their loss dropped their record down to 1-8.

Concord might still be hurting after the 12-0 defeat they got from Northwest Cabarrus in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can Concord avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
