Basketball Recap: Metter Falls to Screven County in First Game of Season

Metter had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They lost 57-37 to the Screven County Gamecocks on Friday. The Tigers were down 41-18 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Rodney Beckworth was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 22 points and 11 boards for Screven County. That makes it four consecutive games in which Beckworth has scored at least a third of Screven County's points. Kashard Prescott was another key player, putting up nine points along with seven steals and five assists.

With the victory, Screven County broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 1-3.

Metter wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 70-18 win against Varsity Opponent on the 7th. Screven County has also already played their next game, a 73-38 defeat against Statesboro on the 7th.
