Baseball Recap: Riverdale Victorious

Riverdale can bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Ida Baker Bulldogs, sneaking past 6-5. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Raiders also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Kaden Varnadoe tossed a big game, striking out ten batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kayden Beard, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two). Alex Manetta was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

The victory got Riverdale back to even at 7-7. As for Ida Baker, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season.

Riverdale will square off against South Fort Myers at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Riverdale is facing South Fort Myers at the right time seeing as South Fort Myers is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Ida Baker, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Palmetto Ridge at 7:00 p.m.
