Basketball Recap: Gage Gooden's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Arapahoe over Southern Valley

Arapahoe was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a 42-31 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Southern Valley Eagles. The Warriors were probably out for revenge after losing 52-33 to them when the teams met back in January of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Several Warriors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Gage Gooden, who posted ten points in addition to six boards and five steals. The dominant performance gave Gooden a new career-high in steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Hayden Sich, who had two points along with nine boards and three steals.

Arapahoe's defeat dropped their record down to 1-12. As for Southern Valley, their victory ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-9.

Arapahoe will be playing in front of their home fans against Loomis at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Loomis knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven games -- so hopefully Arapahoe likes a good challenge. As for Southern Valley, they will head out on the road to take on Chase County at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Chase County is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.3 points per game this season.
