Baseball Recap: Palmview Snags 14th Win in Last 16 Games

It's playoff time, and Palmview had no trouble coming through when it counted. They walked away with a 5-1 victory over the New Braunfels Unicorns on Saturday. This was a revenge game for the Lobos: when they faced off against the Unicorns on Friday, they had to take a 10-1 loss.

Mateo Garcia was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Garcia was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Joseph Martinez, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Palmview is on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 16 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for New Braunfels, the defeat snapped their winning streak at nine games and leaves them with a 28-7 record.

As of now, neither Palmview nor the Unicorns have any future games scheduled.
