League recap: Jefferson climbs in state rankings

Northwest recap October 1, 2013

Jefferson scaled the state rankings by moving to 80 from 125 this week, the biggest jump in Northwest. The Wildcats were able to move up by defeating Lima Central Catholic 35-19.

Adding to the longest winning streak in the league this week, Jefferson beat the Thunderbirds 35-19. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.

Columbus Grove's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Bulldogs feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Riley Brubaker has thrown for 224 yards this season, while Mason Smith has 7 catches for 87 yards.

The Wildcats are currently in first, while Crestview is in third.

Paulding was the team that made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from eighth to sixth in the league. Earlier in the week, the Panthers triumphed over Western Reserve Academy 44-7.
