Basketball Game Preview: Wellston Golden Rockets vs. Athens Bulldogs

Wellston is 2-8 against Athens since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Wellston Golden Rockets will be playing at home against the Athens Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m.

Wellston is headed into Tuesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Friday. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 53-48 heartbreaker at the hands of Federal Hocking.

Meanwhile, Athens wrapped up 2024 with a 53-34 win over Trimble. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bulldogs.

Wellston's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Athens, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

Wellston ended up a good deal behind Athens in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, losing 60-42. Can Wellston avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
