The Monrovia Wildcats will face off against the West Covina Bulldogs at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Monrovia is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season.
Monrovia will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Tuesday, then bounced right back against San Marino on Wednesday. Monrovia blew past San Marino 16-5. The win continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Titans: they've now won eight in a row.
Leilanni Ortega spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on nine hits.

Meanwhile, West Covina posted their closest victory since February 25th on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 win over Capistrano Valley Christian.
West Covina also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Leslie Baustista gave up two runs (both of which were unearned) on six hits. Baustista has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Danielle Diaz, who scored a run while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Melina Alvarado, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
The victory got West Covina back to even at 6-6-1. As for Monrovia, their win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 3-9-1.
Monrovia was able to grind out a solid victory over West Covina in their previous matchup back in March of 2023, winning 5-1. Will Monrovia repeat their success, or does West Covina has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
