Basketball Recap: Carlmont Scots vs. American Eagles
After flying high against Leland last Thursday, Carlmont came back down to earth. The Carlmont Scots fell 56-43 to the American Eagles on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Scots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 342nd, while the Eagles are ranked 167th).
American found their leader in sophomore Shirina Shi, who went 11 for 26 on her way to 27 points. Shi's evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Anika Batra, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds.
Carlmont's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for American, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.
Carlmont didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 31-28 defeat against Branham on the 7th. As for American, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 42-37 loss against Castilleja on the 7th.
