Basketball Game Preview: Knightstown Panthers vs. Hagerstown Tigers

The Knightstown Panthers just played last yesterday, but they'll still welcome the Hagerstown Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. Hagerstown took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Knightstown, who comes in off a win.

Knightstown will bounce into Saturday's matchup after beating Winchester Community, who they had gone 1-7 against in their eight prior meetings. The Panthers blew past the Golden Falcons 70-24 on Friday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Knightstown to victory, but perhaps none more so than Anna Roberson, who went 8-for-19 to rack up 19 points along with seven boards and five steals. Roberson has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last seven times she's played. Another player making a difference was Lilly Drew, who shot 56% from the field en route to 21 points.

Knightstown was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since the start of last season.

Meanwhile, Hagerstown unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They lost to Shenandoah at home by a 51-36 margin on Tuesday. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it nine in a row.

Despite the loss, Hagerstown saw an underclassman step up: freshman Sophia Tinkle dropped a double-double with 15 points and ten rebounds.

Everything went Knightstown's way against Hagerstown when the teams last played back in November of 2024, as Knightstown made off with a 55-31 win. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
