The Patriots' pitcher stepped up to hand the Firebirds a 2-0 shutout on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Patriots have posted since April 22, 2024.

The result came thanks to Chase Liner's shutout, as he gave up just four hits and racked up six Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kaden Barnes, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Wake Prep Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They lost 10-0 to Oxford Prep. The game marked the first time this season in which the Guardians were not able to get on the board.

Wake Prep Academy saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Garrett Watkins, who went 1-for-2 with one double. Easton Booser also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

The victory made it two in a row for Franklin Academy and bumps their season record up to 6-10. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 0 runs in those games. As for Wake Prep Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-10.
