Softball Recap: Morehead Comes Up Short

Morehead's last matchup with Walkertown could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's matchup on Tuesday. The Panthers lost 15-9 to the Wolfpack. The Panthers have struggled against the Wolfpack recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Taylor Hopper and Saillie Aheron stepped up to the plate in a big way. Hopper went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Aheron fired off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-4. Hopper is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Aubrey Easley was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs.

Morehead's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 3-3. As for Walkertown, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 5-4 record.

Looking ahead, Walkertown will host Cornerstone Charter Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Cardinals have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.22 runs per game on average), something the Wolfpack will no doubt try to take advantage of. Morehead will be paying especially close attention to Walkertown's contest: after Walkertown faces off against Cornerstone Charter Academy, they'll take on Morehead again at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
