Softball Recap: Guilford Comes Up Short

Guilford had lost three straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 6-10 to make it four. They came up short against the Harlem Huskies, falling 16-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Vikings of the 11-3 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

As for Harlem, they have been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 14 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. The result was nothing new for Harlem, who have now won eight games by six runs or more so far this season.

For Harlem's part, the team relied heavily on Megan Christensen, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. The dominant performance also gave Christensen a new career-high in RBI (two). Rylie Adams also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Coming up, Guilford will face off against Hononegah at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Indians will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something the Vikings surely won't give up without a fight. As for Harlem, they will take on Rockford East at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
