Softball Recap: Benton Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Benton ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They won by a run and slipped past the Nashville Hornets 7-6. The victory was nothing new for the Rangers as they're now sitting on three straight.

Malia Webb (2025) was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucy Giacone (2025), who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Benton hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in three consecutive contests.

Benton pushed their record up to 11-7 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Nashville, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-13.

Looking ahead, Benton will take on Herrin at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Tigers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.28 runs per game on average), something the Rangers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Nashville, they will face off against Frankfort at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Redbirds will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.
