Basketball Recap: Basic's Undefeated Season over After Three Games

If Basic was feeling good fresh off their 44-22 takedown of Lake Mead Christian Academy on Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Wolves fell 38-32 to the Western Warriors on Saturday. The loss put an end to the Wolves' undefeated start to the season.

Despite the loss, Basic still got an impressive performance from Mia Frias, who posted 18 points. The game was Frias' third in a row with at least 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kiyan Thomas, who had eight points.

Laila Lwaba produced another solid performance going 6-for-12 on her way to 19 points in addition to six rebounds and four steals for Western. That makes it four consecutive games in which Lwaba has scored at least a third of the Warriors' points. Another player making a difference was Kyra Pace, who put up eight points and five boards.

Having lost for the first time this season, Basic fell to 2-1. As for Western, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.

Looking ahead, Basic will head out on the road to face off against Durango at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Western, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 40-33 defeat against Legacy on the 1st.
