Baseball Game Preview: Riceville Wildcats vs. Baxter

The Riceville Wildcats will head out on the road to take on Baxter at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

While Riceville's win against Collins-Maxwell wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Wildcats narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Collins-Maxwell 2-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wildcats.

Meanwhile, Baxter owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Friday. They came out on top against Dunkerton by a score of 4-0. While Baxter didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-13), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Riceville pushed their record up to 9-7 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Baxter, their win bumped their record up to 8-3.
